(1) Teaching Internships in ASL, Basque, French, German, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese and Spanish.
Several instructors in MLL are interested in having a native speaker or near native speaker of the target language serve as a intern to support activities in the classroom and in student writing skill development. Contact any MLL instructor of 100 or 200-level language classes or see Francie in L144.
(2) The High School Equivalency Program (HEP) is looking for tutors to help their Spanish-speaking students prepare for the Spanish GED exam. This exam covers Mathematics, Reading Sciences, Social Studies, and Writing.
This is a great opportunity to expand your vocabulary, work with native speakers and gain some teaching experience right here on campus! Hours are VERY flexible.

(3) The IDAHO-MEXICO Trade Office
The Idaho-Mexico Trade Office in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico was established in 1994 to facilitate Idaho exports to Latin America. The Idaho State Department of Agriculture and the Idaho Department of Commerce sponsor the office.
In addition to serving Idaho exporters, an internship program has been established to provide Idaho College students with practical experience in international business. We are actively seeking students who are interested in spending a semester in Guadalajara to intern in the trade office.

(4) Translations
Occasionally there are requests for formal translations of materials from English to Spanish . The work is detail-oriented but can be very rewarding. Please see Francie to inquire about current opportunities. Excellent performance in Spanish 412 would certainly be a prerequisite.
(5) Boise State Radio
Spanish Translation & Writing
Boise State Radio broadcasts Spanish and bilingual programming each Saturday on KBSU 730 AM. The Underwriting Department seeks an upper level undergraduate or graduate level intern for each semester (fall, winter, spring, summer) to interpret and monitor the Spanish language broadcasts.
This position offers a unique opportunity to use business and communication skills while gaining media and marketing experience. This is a 50 hour per semester internship opportunity.
Responsibilities Include:
- Assisting sales staff in preparation of client proposals and sales material in Spanish and English
- Copy writing and translating
- Updating underwriting website and client database
- Responding to client requests for information
- Other sales related and clerical duties as assigned
Preferred Qualifications Include:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint,
- Good communication skills and attention to detail.
- Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and English

(6) POSITION TITLE: Citizenship and Immigration Case Aide
DUTIES/JOB DESCRIPTION:
- Works with the Immigration Manager and Caseworkers to assist clients in filing Adjustment of Status, Citizenship, Employment Authorization, Family Petitions, and other applications
- Assists with the translation of documents and/or written testimonies
- Tracks processed applications on client data spreadsheet
- Conducts intake interviews for new clients
- Issues receipts and collects payments from clients
- Acts as contact for clients regarding the status of their pending immigration applications
- Assists in the development of outreach efforts and efficient office systems
- Performs miscellaneous administrative duties (mail, telephone, fax, copy machine)
HOURS: Flexible. Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. A regular office schedule of at least 3-4 hours per week per credit sought is expected. Help may be needed on occasional evenings/ weekends for special projects and community events.
REQUIREMENTS: Students with an interest in immigration law, human rights, sociology, foreign language, or related disciplines are encouraged to apply. Desired qualifications as follows:
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Attention to detail and procedure
- Experience with low-income and culturally-diverse populations
- Knowledge of a foreign language (Spanish preferred)
- Typing skills and wide range of computer skills
- Ability to professionally handle confidential information
- Successful pass of criminal background check
- Valid driver’s license, proof of automobile insurance and ability to drive personal vehicle to work preferred

(8) Spanish Oral History Project
Spanish Oral History Internship opportunities are available for summer activity or for Fall 2010. With the direction, training and support of the BSU History Department, Spanish speaking students will interview elderly Hispanic folks in our area in order to record their life experiences. Internship credit is available as Spanish 493 or History 493 for this project in which 50 hours of work equals one academic credit. Students may participate by conducting the interviews in Spanish, transcribing the recorded Spanish interviews, or translating the Spanish transcriptions into English. It will be a wonderful cultural experience to help in the process of preserving this fascinating segment of our local history. Please contact Dr. Errol D. (9) Personal Financial Analyst Internship (may include Spanish translation and contacts)
HELP FAMILIES BECOME DEBT FREE & FINANCIALLY INDEPENDENT
The program is set up for motivated individuals with no previous experience to receive training for state and federal licenses required to become a Personal Financial Analyst. A Personal Financial Analyst has the training to sit down with families, assess their current financial situation, educate the client, and come up with a plan to help them reach their financial goals. Numerous state and federal licenses can be obtained in the areas of protection, debt, and securities. You will also receive training in marketing, tax programs, advantages of owning your own business, finance regulations, and other general business practices and regulations.

(11) Marketing/Administrative/Event Coordinator Internship
Rake Up Boise, a program of Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.
Event Description:
Over 5,000 community volunteers join together every fall to rake and winterize the yards of more than 700 Boise senior and disabled residents. The leaves are put into biodegradable paper bags, donated by the City of Boise, and recycled into compost for City properties and parks. Neighborhood Housing Services solicits teams and volunteers and coordinates the event.
Job Description:
The Marketing/Administrative Intern’s primary focus will be to work closely with the program coordinator for one of the organization’s largest events: Rake Up Boise! This will include working with volunteer teams and program recipients, preparing marketing information and communications, making team assignments, coordinating leaf bag distribution, and organizing the overall event. The intern will also assist with general office work such as data entry, copying, and filing, as well as other administrative needs of organization staff. The opportunity to work with other NHS departments and learn about all aspects of the non-profit organization may also be available.
Candidate should be capable of initiating and maintaining strong personal relationships – both in person and over the phone. In addition, he/she should be able to coordinate with all departments involved to ensure the successful completion of the event and marketing programs. A high degree of organization and self-motivation is required. Candidate must be able to quickly learn the event and the goals of the program. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and internet is required. Attention to detail a plus. Ability to be flexible with tasks given needed. Candidate should have sensitivity to the needs of low-income and diverse populations.
Gain experience and knowledge working for an established non-profit on a well-known community program.
Hours are flexible. This is an unpaid internship.

(12) State Farm Paid Summer Internship Program
Jobs are available in Boise, Idaho; Salem, Portland and Eugene, Oregon; Billings, Montana, DuPont, Bothell, South Seattle and Spokane, Washington. Pay is $12 – $15 per hour.
Qualifications:
